Dale's Wild West Beef Jerky

Dale's Wild West Beef Jerky

Grade: F

No, No, No... Thick greasy jerky. Not good at all. Has a taste like spam or something. After chewing it, the jerky turns powdery. I'm sure some people like this type of thick jerky, but it's not my style at all. I don't really consider thick style jerky like this real jerky, it's more like a Slim Jim than jerky. Nope, not for me. I'm giving this stuff away.

Mingua Brothers Cajun Style

Mingua Brothers Cajun Style

Grade: D

I'm a big Mingua Brothers jerky fan. I love their original flavor and order it every couple of months. Being a cajun from Cut Off, Louisiana, I was excited to try their "cajun" flavor. What a disappointment this stuff was! This did not have any sort of cajun flavor at all. I kept on trying to figure out what the vile flavor was and then it hit me, it's more of a pizza flavoring, to me the flavor tasted more like a pizza flavor combo snack (you know, those little combo snacks that comes in a bag). A cajun flavor should also be a little spicy, but this was just mild and gross. The texture is the same great texture as the original Mingua jerky, but the flavor drops this jerky down to a grade D. Sorry Mingua Brothers, you need to come down to Cut Off to see what real cajun flavor is.

Mike's Famous Beef Jerky

Mike's Famous Beef Jerky

GRADE: B

When I first got this, I looked at the jerky and it looked very dry. Well, it's a little on the dry crunchy side, but it's not as dry as I thought. The jerky is very thin and crispy. The flavor is very good, in fact, it tastes a lot like Fesperman's Beef Jerky. It has a liquid smoke flavor with a touch of sweetness, yep, sure enough, I just looked at the ingredients and it does contain molasses and cane syrup (?). Overall, very good jerky. A little on the flat dry side, but that's how I prefer my jerky anyway. It's a good start to a new round of beef jerky reviews. It can be bought at The Beef Jerky Emporium.
