Smoky Mountain Beef Jerky - Ol' Smoky
Another good quality jerky from Smoky Mountain. This one, like every other flavor from them that I tried, has that same thin, dryish texture that I love. Once you start chewing it, the jerky moistens up and makes for a great chew. The flavors are pretty similar to all the other jerkys that I tried from them, it's a combination of different spices and flavors that make for a great unique taste. You can taste the onion, garlic, and other flavors in the jerky that make it one great chew. It's a little on the high sodium side if you care about those type of things (but I don't and for me, it makes the jerky better). The one thing that kept this jerky from being an A is that this jerky is named Ol' Smoky and I thought that it would have a more pronounced smoky flavor, but there is none. Smoky Mountain's Garlic jerky had a great garlic flavor to it, so I thought that this flavor would be more "smoky", but it isn't. In fact, I probably wouldn't be able to tell the difference between Ol' Smoky and their original flavor. Aside from that one negative, this is still one great jerky that stands out from a lot of the jerky out there. You can order Smoky Mountain jerky from their website, www.jaysjerky.com. Their prices are good ($5.75 for 4 oz) and their shipping costs are very reasonable. In summary, this is a very good jerky that stands out above most jerky out there, I just wish the "smokiness" would have been more prevalent, since this jerky is called "Ol' Smoky".
