Liberty Jerky - Smoke Flavor

Liberty Jerky - Smoke Flavor

Grade: B

When I made my order from Liberty Jerky last week, they were out of a certain size of jerky that I ordered, much to my surprise I received an email from them and they upgraded my order and sent me the next larger size to fill my order, and they even added samples of their other flavors! Very classy! This flavor is their smoke flavored jerky. Worcestershire must be their key ingredient, because you can definitely taste it in the jerky. I was surprised when I read the ingredients in the jerky to find that they use Montreal Steak Seasoning, I would have never thought of using that in jerky, but it works because this jerky is very tasty. The one thing to remember is that the "smoke" flavor is probably made by using liquid smoke, because I really don't taste a natural smoke flavor in the jerky. But all in all the taste is very good. The texture is also good, it's of a dryer jerky, that moistens up when you chew it. Very nice. The thing that keeps it from an A is the initial flavor you get when you pop it in your mouth, it's a strong flavor that mellows out when you chew it for a while. Overall a very good jerky that is worth a try. You can order the jerky from www.libertyjerky.com . 3.5 ounces is $5.99 and the shipping is reasonable.

Ed's Roadhouse Jerky - Sweet Red Pepper

Ed's Roadhouse Jerky - Sweet Red Pepper

Grade: A

In case you just started reading my blog, I'll remind everybody once again... I think Ed's Roadhouse makes the most unique jerky out there today. His flavors are unique and always hit the mark. This new flavor from Ed's is no different. The new flavor that Ed has out is appropriately enough named, Sweet Red Pepper, and guess what... the name describes it perfectly. The jerky has a definite, very pronounced red/green pepper taste along with a very light sweetness. The flavors combine and make for a great jerky. I would have never imagined that a red/green pepper flavored jerky would taste so great, but it does. The sweetness and pepper flavors match up perfectly. The texture is the same as all other Ed's jerkys, nice and moist and it melts in your mouth. You can tell that Ed takes pride in his jerky and really wants to keep amazing us with unique flavors. Like all of Ed's jerkys, you can order this one from his website, www.edsroadhouse.com . A big selection of different size packages are available and he always offers great shipping prices. Another winner from Ed, oh yea, I am still holding my breath for a pickle jerky!
