Just go to his website and look at the flavors available! Flavors like Hawaiian Pineapple Ginger, Sweet Red Pepper, Inferno Ghost Pepper, Spicy Sweet Apple and Spicy Fajita are just a few of the flavors out of about 17 or more flavors he has for sale at his site. Now I normally wouldn't be impressed by the amount of flavors a company has if the jerky is horrible, but as you know (if you've been reading this blog at all), Ed in my book makes some of the best jerky you can buy, thus making the awesome flavor combinations even better!

Ed's newest jerky available is called - Sweet 'N Spicy - Lil Smokey and it describes the jerky perfectly. When you first start on the jerky the natural meat flavor is very noticeable, then the different combination of seasonings hit you, then the sweet smoky taste comes out, then it all ends with a nice heat punch, that isn't mouth burning hot, but leaves a nice hotness in your mouth after chewing the jerky. It's an awesome jerky eating experience. The sweetness is not overly sweet, but probably gets it's sweetness from the "Sweet Apple Smoke" that is included in the ingredients, Molasses is also listed in the ingredients that probably gives it another burst of sweetness. A lot of jerkys that are called Sweet & Spicy usually are either way too sweet and not spicy enough, or way too spicy and not sweet enough, it's a combination that companies seem to have a hard time with, not with this jerky it's a great even mixture of sweet and spicy. The smokiness and heat of the jerky is perfect. As someone who doesn't like their jerky overly hot, this Sweet N Spicy flavor fits the heat quota perfectly. I gave some of this jerky to a coworker and I asked them what they thought and he said it perfectly, "As you chew the jerky you get different flavors the longer you chew it".

The texture is the same as all of Ed's great jerky. Like I stated in previous reviews, Ed's jerky simply melts in your mouth and is so fresh tasting that you would swear he made it an hour ago. The ingredients say "Angus Beef" and it's an awesome cut of meat.

Ed's jerky can be ordered online at his website, www.edsroadhousejerky. He sells the jerky in various size packages, anywhere from 2 oz packages all the way to 5 pound packages. I've always found Ed's prices reasonable and what I like about ordering from him is that if you're short on cash or want to try a different flavor from him then you can order the small 2 oz bags. In conclusion, Ed has another winning flavor on his hands with this Sweet 'N "Spicy" - Lil Smokey jerky. Oh yea, be on the lookout for something different from Ed's in the near future!!

Mahogany Beef Jerky - Sweet & Spicy

Mahogany Beef Jerky - Sweet & Spicy

Grade: B-

I've tried a lot of "Sweet & Spicy" flavored beef jerkys in my time, and most of the time the jerky ends up being just "sweet" or just "spicy" without combining the two together. I'm happy to say that Mahogany's Sweet & Spicy jerky mixes the two together perfectly. When you first start chewing the jerky the sweetness hits your taste buds and you think to yourself, hmm, this is a nice sweet jerky. Then after chewing a while, the spiciness hits your taste buds and you feel the heat. Then you finish the jerky with a nice taste of sweetness in your mouth and the lingering heat of the spiciness. In fact, I finished eating a piece of this jerky about a minute ago and I still feel a little heat in my mouth. Don't be scared off if you dislike jerky too hot, this jerky does pack heat, but it's not enough to scare off wimps like me.

Reading the ingredients on the bag, it inclues honey, brown sugar, pineapple juice, cayenne pepper and tabasco sauce along with others. While I can't taste those individual ingredients separately, the mixture makes for a very good sweet & spicy flavor. The jerky is a "wetter" style jerky, probably due to all the liquid ingredients it uses as a marinade. The ONLY problem I have with this jerky that drags it down to a B-, is that some pieces are thick and are hard to chew. Now, once you break it down and chew a while, it becomes easier, but I wish it were thinner and easier to eat.

You can get this jerky at Mahogany's website.. www.smokedmeats.com. A 4 ounce bag cost me $8.95, and when you include shipping the price does get high. Looking around the site I see that Mahogany sells all type of goodies, so you may want to check it out for yourself. In summary, a good jerky that could have been better if it were easier to chew.

Wild Joe's Beef Jerky - "Natural" Style

Wild Joe's Beef Jerky - "Natural" Style

Grade: A

This is another great flavor from Wild Joe's. I recently found out about Wild Joe's by accident, when I was just surfing around random beef jerky sites, and so far with the two flavors that I tried, I'm glad I found them. This jerky is on the dryer side, but it's not overly dry. The dryness makes for a great chew and once you start chewing it moistens up nicely. The thing I found unusual about the jerky's taste is that it tastes a lot like Mingua Brothers beef jerky. Maybe they use they same type of Soy Sauce based marinade, but it's scary how close this tastes like Mingua Brothers. You can definitely tell the marinade they use is Soy Sauce based, but along with that taste, you can taste garlic flavor in the jerky. The Soy flavor and other seasonings make a great flavor when you chew the jerky. I can definitely go through a whole bag of this jerky in one sitting. So if you're wondering, if this jerky and Mingua Brothers tastes almost the same, why I gave this jerky an A and Mingua Brothers a B , it's because Mingua Brothers jerky is more greasy and the flavor is stronger than Wild Joe's. I really don't think you'll be disappointed in this jerky if you like a dryer style jerky.

Wild Joe's Beef Jerky can be bought on their website, www.wildjoesbeefjerky.com. A half pound of Wild Joe's is $15.00, when you include shipping the price can get high, but it's an awesome jerky, so to me it's worth the little extra you'll pay.

Wild Joe's Beef Jerky - Prime Rib Flavor

Wild Joe's Beef Jerky - Prime Rib Flavor

Grade: A

I recently ordered some jerky from Wild Joe's Beef Jerky and included in the order that was sent was some samples of other flavors of jerky. It's really classy when a company does include a few small sample size bags of their products, and it's a great way to promote their other flavors. They included 2 small bags of the Prime Rib Flavor of their jerky. The jerky is on the dryer side (which I personally love), the jerky does moisten up when you start chewing it just like a good jerky should. When eating the jerky, no particular flavor overpowers the other flavors, which in my book is a good thing! The flavors mesh well together with the natural meat flavor of the jerky. I love a jerky that has a nice natural meat flavor, and this one fits the bill. There is a very tiny bit of spiciness, but it's very faint. Now, I don't think it tastes like "Prime Rib", but it's a very good tasting jerky, that I will definitely buy in the future. Please remember that I like my jerky on the "dryer" thin side with a natural meat flavor as opposed to a thick "wet" jerky, so keep that in consideration of my review.

Wild Joe's Beef Jerky can be bought on their website.. wildjoesbeefjerky.com. When looking at their website, I notice that you can buy most of their flavors in the 3.5 ounce size, but can only get the "Prime Rib Flavor" in the half pound size for $15.00. When you include shipping it isn't the cheapest jerky out there but I've learned a long time ago, that it's not always better to go cheaper. Again, this jerky is a great "dryish" jerky, with great flavors that mesh together well and makes for a flavorful and awesome jerky!

Liberty Jerky - Teriyaki Flavor

Liberty Jerky - Teriyaki Flavor

Grade: B

Finally, I return with more jerky reviews. It's been hectic around the Abitaman household, but I'm going to try to keep the jerky reviews coming on a semi-regular basis and to start off the new batch of jerky reviews let's look at Liberty Jerky - Teriyaki flavor. I found this jerky to be quit good, when you first bite into the jerky you can definitely tell it uses a soy sauce/teriyaki based marinade. The soy sauce/teriyaki flavor is the first thing you taste then there's a spiciness to the jerky. The spiciness isn't mouth burning hot, but you can definitely feel the heat. The other flavors of the jerky mixed well with the teriyaki and heat and made for a good jerky. There are other spices mixed into the jerky which gives the jerky a nice flavor while you are chewing it. I want to note that the soy sauce/teriyaki flavor does not overpower the other spices of the jerky.

The texture of the jerky is on the dryish side just like I like my jerky and once you start chewing on the jerky it moistens up and makes for a great chew. This is the type of jerky you really can't go wrong with.

You can order this jerky and Liberty Jerky's other flavors from their website, www.libertyjerky.com . The prices are $5.99 for 3.5 ounces and $10.99 for 7 ounces, and the shipping was reasonable. This was a good jerky to start my reviews up again, and I'll definitely be buying this jerky again!

Pappy Kershenstine Rattlesnake Beer

On my other website, www.runningwithabita.com , I just posted a post about Pappy Kershenstine's Rattlesnake Beer. I've loved the jerky since I was a teen, many years ago. It was always my "must get" item when I went to stores that sold the stuff. But in the last few months this trend has stopped. Why? Because of the price increase. Kershenstine used to sell their jerky for anywhere between $2.39 to $2.99 for 1.2 ounces. Now the price has jumped to anywhere between $4.25 to over $5.00 for the same 1.2 ounces! That breaks down to at least $56 a pound if not more! Now, I pick up a bag much less frequently. Are they out pricing themselves? I think so. No matter how much I love their jerky, I've been thinking twice about picking up a bag and spending close to $5 for 1.2 ounces. What is everyone's opinion about this?

Cheap Rip Off

Because I'm so full of ideas and was looking to do a different type of review/food/product site, I decided to open up:

www.cheapripoff.com

While Beef Jerky Land will focus on reviews of Beef Jerky (something that I'm way behind on!), www.cheapripoff.com will offer a different type of review. Very classy! This flavor is their smoke flavored jerky. Worcestershire must be their key ingredient, because you can definitely taste it in the jerky. I was surprised when I read the ingredients in the jerky to find that they use Montreal Steak Seasoning, I would have never thought of using that in jerky, but it works because this jerky is very tasty. The one thing to remember is that the "smoke" flavor is probably made by using liquid smoke, because I really don't taste a natural smoke flavor in the jerky. But all in all the taste is very good. The texture is also good, it's of a dryer jerky, that moistens up when you chew it. Very nice. The thing that keeps it from an A is the initial flavor you get when you pop it in your mouth, it's a strong flavor that mellows out when you chew it for a while. Overall a very good jerky that is worth a try. You can order the jerky from www.libertyjerky.com . 3.5 ounces is $5.99 and the shipping is reasonable.

Ed's Roadhouse Jerky - Sweet Red Pepper

Ed's Roadhouse Jerky - Sweet Red Pepper

Grade: A

In case you just started reading my blog, I'll remind everybody once again... I think Ed's Roadhouse makes the most unique jerky out there today. His flavors are unique and always hit the mark. This new flavor from Ed's is no different. The new flavor that Ed has out is appropriately enough named, Sweet Red Pepper, and guess what... the name describes it perfectly. The jerky has a definite, very pronounced red/green pepper taste along with a very light sweetness. The flavors combine and make for a great jerky. I would have never imagined that a red/green pepper flavored jerky would taste so great, but it does. The sweetness and pepper flavors match up perfectly. The texture is the same as all other Ed's jerkys, nice and moist and it melts in your mouth. You can tell that Ed takes pride in his jerky and really wants to keep amazing us with unique flavors. Like all of Ed's jerkys, you can order this one from his website, www.edsroadhouse.com . A big selection of different size packages are available and he always offers great shipping prices. Another winner from Ed, oh yea, I am still holding my breath for a pickle jerky!

Spencer's Gourmet Beef Jerky - Sweet & Spicy Orange

Spencer's Gourmet Beef Jerky - Sweet & Spicy Orange

Grade: B

This is one interesting jerky. I had never heard of Spencer's before trying this jerky and from looking at their flavor varieties on their site, it looks like they have some interesting flavors. This flavor's name describes this jerky perfectly. When you first try this jerky the orange flavor is really the standout flavor that you get. After chewing it for a while the spiciness kicks in, it's not too hot but there is a little heat to it. I also caught a "pineapple" flavor in this jerky and then when I read the ingredients I saw that it does have some pineapple juice listed as one of the ingredients. The flavor is unique and is quite good. The texture is too thick for me and when you chew the jerky it turns kind of powdery instead of making for a nice long chew. The texture really pushed this jerky into a B category. I'm still looking forward to their other flavors and will eventually try them all out. You can order Spencer's Gourmet Jerky from their website, www.spencersjerky.com. The jerky costs $3.50 for 1.75 ounces, their shipping is reasonable and even offer free shipping on orders over $25.00. I'm under the belief that instead of having regular dreams at night that he dreams of different flavors of jerky that he can try to make. This jerky's flavor definitely has a "mexican" taste to it. When I first tried it, I caught a salsa taste to it and the other people that tried it said the same thing. Then as I ate more and more it became more of a spicy mexican chili flavor, then when I got to the bottom of the bag it reminded me fajitas from a mexican restaurant. So in summary, the flavors of the jerky has unique elements with the main element being a mexican flavor. It's a jerky you really have to try to appreciate. I could put this jerky on a soft tortilla, throw some salsa and sour cream on it and really make a meal out if it. This jerky does have a heat kick to it so be warned if you're sensitive to this type of thing, I didn't find it too spicy for a wimp like me, but just take note that it does have a kick. The texture of the jerky is the same as all of Ed's jerky, nice and tender and it melts in your mouth. If you haven't tried any of Ed's jerky yet, you are really missing out. You can order all of Ed's jerky from his website, www.edsroadhousejerky.com. He offers his jerky in just about any size imaginable, all the way from 2 ounce bags to 80 ounce bags, and his shipping prices are very reasonable. I'm curious to see what type of flavors Ed will dream up next, I still hope one day that someone will come out with a pickle flavored jerky!

Robertson's Real Beef Jerky - Hickory Smoked

Robertson's Real Beef Jerky - Hickory Smoked

Grade: A+

A word of warning to the readers of my blog, I have a special place in my heart for the type of jerky that Robertson's makes, it's the type of jerky that I grew up with and it's the type of jerky that I used to take with me on my long 8 hour trips to Texas that I used to make 6 or 8 times a month for work. This stuff is great. Robertson's jerky texture is very much on the dry side and I love that dryness, it makes for a fantastic chew once you start on it and lasts a long time. Don't take the dryness for being too hard to chew because it's not, it moistens up quickly once you start to chew the jerky, take a sip of beer or soda with the jerky and you're in jerky heaven. The flavor is awesome, some saltiness, a little pepper, the hickory smoke flavor and maybe a little sweetness and that's it. The spices do not overtake the "meat" flavor and makes for an unbelievable taste. The smokiness to the jerky is outstanding and it's not over smoked at all. The jerky comes in long "slabs" and you have to break off pieces to eat. Again, this style of jerky is outstanding in my book and Robertson's does an awesome job with it. The name describes it best "Robertson's Real Beef Jerky", and it is my readers it is. You can order Robertson's jerky on their website, www.robertsonshams.com. I paid $12.95 for half a pound of jerky plus shipping costs, they carry all types of meats that I may one day try out.

Smoky Mountain Beef Jerky - Sweet BBQ

Smoky Mountain Beef Jerky - Sweet BBQ

Grade: B-

Another good jerky from Smoky Mountain. This one is called Sweet BBQ flavor and it really describes the flavor of the jerky perfectly. Unlike most of the other flavors of Smoky Mountain jerky that I tried the texture of this jerky is much "wetter" and more moist than their other flavors which usually are more on the dry side. It probably has to do with the sweet BBQ marinade they use on this jerky. You'll definitely have to wash your hands after you eat some of this jerky because your hands will be sticky. The jerky makes for a great chew once you start munching on a piece, and is very easy to eat. The flavor is like the name implies, a sweet BBQ flavor that really overpowers the taste of the meat. The flavor is very much on the sweet side with a taste of BBQ sauce thrown in. On the bag they list brown sugar as an ingredient for the jerky and I could tell that they used it before even reading the ingredients. While eating the jerky, you get a piece now and then with some heat to it, not all the pieces have the heat kick, but you do find a piece every once in a while with a kick. There's one thing that keeps this jerky from getting a higher score and that is because after a few pieces of this jerky you start getting tired of the sweet BBQ flavor. It has a flavor that I could only enjoy every now and then and the flavor prevented me from eating too much of it at one sitting. The sweet BBQ flavor really gets to you in a bad way after eating too much at one time. It gets a B- because I still enjoyed it somewhat in small doses. You can order all of the Smoky Mountain products at, www.jaysjerky.com. This bag cost me $5.75 for 4oz and the shipping was reasonable. Another good product by Smoky Mountain even if I only could eat this jerky in small batches.

Smoky Mountain Beef Jerky - Ol' Smokey

Smoky Mountain Beef Jerky - Ol' Smoky

Grade: B

Another good quality jerky from Smoky Mountain. This one, like every other flavor from them that I tried, has that same thin, dryish texture that I love. Once you start chewing it, the jerky moistens up and makes for a great chew. The flavors are pretty similar to all the other jerkys that I tried from them, it's a combination of different spices and flavors that make for a great unique taste. You can taste the onion, garlic, and other flavors in the jerky that make it one great chew. It's a little on the high sodium side if you care about those type of things (but I don't and for me, it makes the jerky better). The one thing that kept this jerky from being an A is that this jerky is named Ol' Smoky and I thought that it would have a more pronounced smoky flavor, but there is none. Smoky Mountain's Garlic jerky had a great garlic flavor to it, so I thought that this flavor would be more "smoky", but it isn't. In fact, I probably wouldn't be able to tell the difference between Ol' Smoky and their original flavor. Aside from that one negative, this is still one great jerky that stands out from a lot of the jerky out there. You can order Smoky Mountain jerky from their website, www.jaysjerky.com. Their prices are good ($5.75 for 4 oz) and their shipping costs are very reasonable. In summary, this is a very good jerky that stands out above most jerky out there, I just wish the "smokiness" would have been more prevalent, since this jerky is called "Ol' Smoky".

Firehouse Jerky - Mild

Firehouse Jerky - Mild

Grade: C-

I ordered this jerky after reading about it on a comment from a fellow reader. All I've got to say is, blah. This is below average generic jerky. This stuff tastes exactly like any jerky that you can buy in any gas station anywhere. The texture is too thick for my liking, and would be okay if the flavor would make up for the texture, but it doesn't. The jerky has a smokiness and there is a combination of a few good flavors mixed in, but I can't get over the bland generic flavor of this jerky. There's no reason to go into anymore details on this jerky and if you want to give this jerky a try, you'd be better off buying some Bridgford jerky from the Dollar General because it tastes just about the same. But if you're into bland forgettable jerky, you can order this stuff at www.firehousejerky.com. One other thing, I hate jerky companies that make bold statements like, "Firehouse Jerky offers three unique flavors: Mild (Traditional), Pepper and Hot (and we mean HOT). We hope you try our one-of-a-kind beef jerky. We know that once you do, you will never look at jerky the same way." Then when you do try it, it's the same as a lot of jerky you find in gas stations across the country.

Sograte - Chili Lime Beef Jerky

Sograte - Chili Lime Beef Jerky

Grade: A

I always forget how good Sograte jerky is until I open a bag and start eating it. So far, I have tried the Original and Texas Heat flavors and both have not disappointed me and were outstanding. The Chili Lime flavor is no exception. The jerky like all their jerky is a little on the "thicker" side and makes for a great chew. When you start chewing the jerky it's very moist and is great. The flavor is outstanding. It's on the "hotter" side, but the heat doesn't overpower the other flavors. Sograte does an excellent job in their seasonings, each flavor doesn't overpower the other and they all combine to make a great taste. There is a bit of heat to this jerky, but not too much for my sensitive taste buds. There is also a nice smokiness to the jerky that makes a great finish. Once again, the smokiness doesn't overpower the other spices like so many other smoky jerkys do, but the natural smokiness does linger along with the heat of the jerky that leaves a great taste in your mouth after eating the jerky. I was afraid that this "chili" flavor would have a nasty taste like other "chili" products, like chili flavored fritos or chili flavored Slim Jims, but this flavor is not like those at all. The only small negative that I have about this jerky is that I wish it would have more of a Lime flavor. With a name like Chili Lime, I thought that there would be more of a tartness to the jerky, but unfortunately I can barely even distinguish the lime flavoring in the jerky. I think that a more pronounced lime flavor would have really meshed well with the Chili heat and made this jerky even better. I was curious and cut a fresh lime and put some lime juice on this jerky to see what flavor I would get, and it was awesome, the acidity of the lime juice really complimented the chili flavor of the jerky and made it even better. Even with that small negative this is one terrific jerky that goes great with a nice cold beer. You can get this jerky on their website, www.sograte.com. It's $5.00 for 3 ounces and they offer a flat shipping rate of $4.95. For a high quality jerky like this it's a great deal.

The Jerky Guy - Teriyaki

The Jerky Guy - Teriyaki

Grade: D

Someone recommended this jerky to me from the comments section on a different review. All I can say is that this is one jerky that the texture makes this uneatable in my opinion. When I received the jerky, there was all this information from the company stating how much healthier their jerky was compared to other jerky companies. But after trying it out, they should have put a few unhealthy things in it because this jerky really let me down. Flavor wise, it does have a nice Teriyaki flavor, a bit sweet and would make for a good jerky if it wasn't for the texture. I was thinking and thinking about a word to describe this jerky's texture and then I gave a piece to a couple of friends and someone came up with the perfect description. Upon trying a piece my friend spit it out and said, "gross, this is like eating potted meat." And there you go, it has the same mushy texture of potted meat. In fact, one of my friends said, no way this is real beef. The mushy texture destroys this jerky. If someone has no teeth and needs their food to be mushy, then this jerky is perfect for them, but for myself (who has a healthy set of teeth), this jerky went straight into the garbage can.

Josephson's Smoked Original Salmon Jerky

Josephson's Smoked Original Salmon Jerky

Grade: F

Have you ever eaten something so bad that you know you will have nightmares about it. Well, I have, and it's called Josephson's Smoked Original Salmon Jerky. A couple of friends were at the house and I decided to pull this jerky out to try it with them. As soon as I opened this bag and the smell hit me, I knew I was in trouble. The smell is awful. Think about a rotten fish smell, and that's what you have. I was about to throw the jerky out as soon as the smell hit me, but being a trooper, I tried it. It didn't taste as bad as it smelled but the taste was horrible. It tasted like rotten fish to me. They sell this for $9.95 for 3 ounces. I ended up giving some to my cats, who seemed to love it. So this jerky will be used as expensive cat treats.

Mingua Brothers changes shipping costs - Now offers free shipping!!

A while back I ranted against Mingua Brothers Beef Jerky about charging so much for shipping, but today I stopped by their website, www.minguabeefjerky.com, and put a bag of jerky in my shopping cart and then saw that they now ship via FedEx for free! What a difference! A few months ago they were charging $9 to ship a bag of jerky and now it's free. A 4oz bag of their jerky (I highly recommend the original) will now only run you $6.99 with free shipping, or throw in an extra $5 and get 8oz. I bought a couple of bags and even bought a bag of their dog treats for my dog. I, for one, am glad to see that Mingua has now changed their shipping policy. So show them your gratitude and order a bag or two.

Ed's Roadhouse Jerky - Sweet & Spicy "Apple"

Ed's Roadhouse Jerky - Sweet & Spicy "Apple"

GRADE: A

If you read this blog on a regular basis then you know that I'm a huge fan of Ed's Roadhouse Jerky. I said it before and I'll say it again, Ed makes some of the best, most unique jerky out there. Go to his website and you'll see jerky flavors like, Sweet & Spicy Orange, Hawaiian Pineapple Ginger, BBQ Chipotle jerky just to name a few. No other companies that I know of have combinations like that. And now Ed comes out with Sweet & Spicy Apple! When I first heard about this flavor from Ed's, I thought for sure it would have a spicy apple cider flavor, but I was wrong. The flavor is not unlike Ed's Sweet & Spicy Orange flavor, but instead of the orange flavor, it has a nice hint of apple. And like the Sweet & Spicy Orange, the apple flavor doesn't overpower the nice sweet & spiciness of the jerky. Again, like all of Ed's jerky it's a very unique flavor that must be tried to appreciate. The jerky itself is of the high quality that Ed's jerky always is. In case you've never tried Ed's jerky before, his jerky literally melts in your mouth. The meat used is very high quality and the jerky is always fresh. Ed's Roadhouse has done it again and has come up with a real winner here. Ed's jerky can be bought online at his site, www.edsroadhousejerky.com. His prices are unbelievable for the high quality of jerky you are getting, and the shipping is very reasonable! Ed recently stated that he's working on a new flavor that will take beef jerky to a whole new level and after seeing the jerky he has put out already, I believe him!

Buffalo Bills Country Cut - Teriyaki

Buffalo Bills Country Cut - Teriyaki

Grade: B-

Buffalo Bills brand beef jerky has always been hit or miss with me. I loved their Premium Spicy jerky, but found their Western Cut Original just average. This jerky is good but not as good as their Premium Spicy jerky. The texture of the jerky is on the moist and tender side just like it states on the package. Your fingers will be wet when you eat this jerky. If you read other reviews of mine, you know I prefer my jerky on the "dryer" side, but the moist and tender texture makes this a good chew. The jerky has a nice "meaty" flavor, with a bit of sweetness (the ingredients state, "maple flavor" and that is probably what is giving it the sweetness flavor). You can also taste the onion and garlic powder slightly. The soy sauce also has a presence in the taste. If I were eating this in a blind taste test, I would never guess it was Teriyaki flavor jerky. So if you're looking for a strong Teriyaki flavor jerky then this may not be the jerky for you, to me it has more of a roast flavor instead of a Teriyaki flavor. Still, I ate the whole bag and would not turn it away if it was offered again. You can find the jerky on their site, www.choochoorsnacks.com.

Incredible Jerky - Hot Jamaican Flavor

Incredible Jerky - Hot Jamaican Flavor

Grade: B

I recently got 4 different jerkys to try from Incredible Jerky. Looking at the packaging, you can tell this is not your normal jerky company. The packaging is the jerky in a "foodsaver" vacuum bag. But you know what, who cares about packaging, I kind of like it, it shows that this stuff is not overly processed like a lot of mainstream jerky out there. I know what you're saying, enough about the packaging, what about the jerky! Let's start with the texture, the jerky is definitely not a dry variety, but very moist. It's a little moister than I like my jerky, but I can live with that, the chew was very good, and you can tell it's a high quality product. The taste "tastes" just like the name states. It has a Jamaican jerky flavor and is quite hot. It was a little too hot for my taste buds, but I definitely finished it all with no problem. The flavor is very unique. I found the jerky had a good taste and a nice texture, but it wasn't enough to push it to an A for me. You could do worse out there as this jerky is not as dull as some mainstream brands. The jerky can be bought on Incredible Jerky's website, http://www.incrediblejerky.com/ . On the site they have some very interesting varieties of beef jerky that they make, they also make chicken jerky (which I will review in the future). There is a price list on the site and since their Paypal system is not in place you will need to contact them to get shipping and payment information. In summary, this flavor of Incredible Jerky, was a little too spicy for my tastes, but if you're looking for a unique tasting jerky you should enjoy this one.

Smoky Mountain Beef Jerky - Roasted Garlic

Smoky Mountain Beef Jerky - Roasted Garlic

Grade: A

I've really become a fan of the Smoky Mountain brand of jerky lately. I've had their Elk and Venison jerky but this is the first time I review their beef jerky. I wanted to try out the Roasted Garlic flavor first since it sounded like an interesting jerky to try from them, and this one does not disappoint at all. Smoky Mountain jerky's texture is how I like my jerky, thin and dry that moistens up when you start chewing. The first jerky I ever ate, when I was a kid, had the same texture, and so I'm very partial to that type of jerky. This jerky also packs a nice flavor, Smoky Mountain must marinate their beef well, because this jerky has all kind of flavors coming from it, the main one being garlic of course. The garlic doesn't overpower the other flavors and is kind of subtle but it's definitely in there. I can taste Worcestershire, a very small hint of sweetness, garlic, a little soy sauce and a combination of spices that are out of this world. Good quality jerky with great flavors make this jerky an A on my scale. Yes, the sodium is kind of on the high side, but who cares about that when you are eating jerky. You can order this jerky and all of Smoky Mountain's jerky on their website, http://jaysjerky.com/ . The price for 4oz was only $5.75 and to ship 4 bags of jerky the shipping was $8.99, they used FedEx and I got the jerky in 2 days (wow!). Again, a high quality jerky that really packs a nice flavor punch.
